If you use tables in OpenOffice Writer and happen to write a date such as December 25, 2017 then expect it to turn into 12/25/17. For reasons unknown the good folks down at OpenOffice feel you don’t have a right to type a day of the year the way you want. They know best apparently! To turn off this insanely annoying feature simply choose the following from the Writer menu at the top of the page:
Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Writer > Table > Input In Tables > Then Uncheck Number Recognition
Once this is done you are free to write dates within tables and cells as you please!
Does your wireless router seem to work great for a time on all your devices but then it periodically disconnects for no reason? Even when an ethernet cord is in use rather than a wireless connection? More than likely the problem lies in your Dynamic DHCP Clients, aka the various devices connected to your router, simply expiring. For reasons unknown this seems to be a huge state secret, and not something the router just automatically does. To solve this annoyance log in to your routers control panel that is usually accessable from a web browser at http://192.168.0.1/. Then look for Add A DHCP Reservation under Network Settings which is usually under the Setup option. Choose your device from the list or copy the information from the device listed on the page. Once you add a reservation the device should never expire which means it will never disconnect on you ever again!
How To Interact On Facebook Without Using Your Personal Identity
Facebook users have always had the ability to create business, fan, and group pages under their personal account. They also had the ability to log on as that page in one click to interact on Facebook free of their personal identity. Simply a must when acting on behalf of your business, or page whose subject is separate from your own. Unfortunately Facebook recently ended that power, and didn’t bother to explain things which is their usual inexplicable course of action! Thankfully the video above explains that things aren’t as bleak as they seem for those of you with one or even multiple pages of a non-personal nature. There are various drop down menus that substitute the business page log on. This will allow you to comment as your page, like comments, and like other pages as your Facebook page, business, or group when doing so with your personal identity wouldn’t make any sense. Unfortunately the one thing you lose is the ability to be logged on as your page so your Facebook friends can’t see you’re online. However there are ways to organize, and classify friends in order to accomplish that. Hopefully Facebook will not further tweak things, and impede business in their obsessive quest to collect as much information about people’s personal identities as possible! This is one of the many reasons why Twitter is the superior social media platform!
Paypal is a wonderful method of payment that allows you to avoid giving your financial data to various websites that accept it. For reasons unknown some merchants can’t seem to handle using Paypal as a payment option. Either there’s an initial error in the transaction, an inconsistency in the data you provide to the merchant, orders are never fulfilled, or some other unknown error occurs. In the case of Walmart when using Paypal they have a nasty knack of canceling your order after you think it’s gone through. Claims of unverifiable information take place. Plausibly the information in your Walmart account doesn’t match the Paypal account causing them to have a hyper-security fit. This despite the fact you’d need a user name, and password to access said Paypal account to begin with. This ridiculousness could be somewhat akin to using someone else’s credit with their authorization yet the merchant pops a security fit!
Unfortunately the simple cancellation of your order isn’t the end of it. The money they charged to your Paypal account sits in limbo for one week
since Walmart doesn’t appear to have the mechanism nor the time to simultaneously cancel the account at Paypal. Even when you contact Walmart customer service. In addition this so called temporary transaction can’t be disputed in any way with Paypal. A simple order cancellation button would be nice! So if Paypal charged your credit card or checking account on behalf of an incompetent merchant then that money sits there remaining unavailable to you for one week. At the least this is annoying, or perhaps a major inconvenience if you are on a fixed budget. Whatever the issue is with using Paypal at Walmart it would be nice if they’d instruct their customers on what is expected to utilize Paypal as a payment method with them! They certainly don’t seem to inform anyone even after the fact! Walmart can be a great place to take advantage of various deals on products that might be more expensive elsewhere. However when shopping at Walmart online avoid using Paypal at all costs!
You’ve enjoyed the convenience of making cheap quality VOIP calls over the internet courtesy of Magicjack. However you can’t figure out how to change your outbound caller ID as it would show up on other people’s phones. Maybe you don’t want your full name, or just want the phone number itself to be the caller ID? Perhaps you’ve searched the internet, and are only taken to out of date solutions that no longer work? Here is what actually works in the years 2015-2016. Simply go to your account at http://my.magicjack.com, and log in. Then click the top tab labeled “Call Features”. Then scroll down the menu to hit “Caller ID Name”. Find your phone number and/or Magicjack Device Name on the list, and change the name in the blank next to it. Hit “Submit”, and your Magicjack Caller ID has been changed. It’s a far simpler process than calling up your phone company to change your landline caller ID. That is if they even allow it!
